Money can be tight sometimes, and people cant afford it.

Then you also get the stick-in-the-muds who wont pay out of principle...

It's cool that you're happy with mediocre sandwiches and glitched content, but don't act like the rest of us should be.

Some people are waayyyy beyond the allowance stage of life and don't want to spend $7-10 on things they aren't entirely happy with. Money really is that tight for some adults. Even the ones with jobs.

Don't you think it's a little childish to laugh at people and accuse them of being children just because they don't want to pay for this stuff? It doesn't matter if people can't afford it or hate the idea of purchasing content from an online store. They have just as much of a right to express their opinions as you do to eat crappy sandwiches.

I personally know some people who were and still are hit hard by the recession, even something small as '5.99' is something they can't think about getting at the moment as much as they want to buy the costumes. Guess Im not going to get an official answer on why the keys are locked onto the same account its bought only

Maybe I didnt explain my point clear enough.

Basically what I'm trying to say is these costumes should be looked at as a "luxury" of sorts and not a necessity. Like my example of eating out for lunch. Not neccessary to do it, but sometimes you treat yourself.

If you cant afford it then so be it. You are not at any disadvantage to those who have purchased them. So why all the complaining?

But with the numerous people just whining sheerly due to the fact that they aint free. Thats pretty ridiculous.

Didn't someone say that you need those new costumes to finish the new quest chains? (e.g. disguise as white mantle, etc.)

In other words, isn't this buying into the opportunity of playing new quests and possibly new rewards?

Who said that? Surely it wasn't somebody from Anet. I'm 99.99% sure they would never make you buy something just to finish a quest.

Isn't the story playing out in the WarInKryta website?

http://www.guildwars.com/warinkryta/

Quote:
The lack of permits may be explained by unconfirmed accounts of Shining Blade raids nearby. Several travelers reported that a White Mantle supply caravan en route to Bergen Hot Springs had been ambushed by rebel forces. The Shining Blade allegedly burned a great quantity of Wartime Travel Permits and absconded with a supply of White Mantle uniforms, which they will no doubt disperse to their troops.
Does this mean that we are expected to wear those costumes to perform raids or wear WM disguise for missions into the White Mantle territory in the future?

That doesn't mean they are going to go pull a crazy stunt like charging for quest completion.

Unless anet comes forward and say that they definitely will not, they may charge for new content in the form of the new costumes.

Not that I am against that, it is new content afterall and anet has traditionally charge some amount for new content (e.g. BMP).

Sorry to say this, but these costumes are too stupid for the money we need to pay for them.

They could make a new type of armor for each profession, both male and female, and add them in game. I would gladly pay for that.
But than again, that would be 20 different armors, and Anet is to lazy to make them.

I mean, for some games, like ME2 and DA:O, you get whole missions, with new story, new voice acting and new items for less than you have to pay here, for only 4 costumes.

Then don't buy them. Job done. They just exist for those who wish to treat themselves like the Wintersday ones. Nobody needs to buy these and any who do don't get any advantages over who don't.

And quite frankly they can charge what they like - it's their game.

That was purely fan speculation. I am pretty sure it has been said here, via Regina's journal or the journal of others, or through interviews that the costumes wont be needed for quests.

It is still pretty sad to think these dullards believe that Anet must still have their full development staff devoted to GW1...

I think that is called ignorance, no?

That's the spirit - just blindly cite something irrelevant and insult the other side. We wouldn't want anyone to think there aren't enough fanboys here, would we?

Costumes - poor VFM and poorly implemented, but hey it's just a small team, buy them anyway! GW is mostly a charity now - spread the word, people who question high costs and low quality are just ignorant!

hard to tell if your being sarcastic or just ignorant...could be both. I stated a fact, and never once said to blindly go and buy it.

Those who wish to support the live team and current GW costs will buy it, those who don't, well, don't. It isn't being forced on you, so there should be no reason for people to be getting up-in-arms against such a thing.

Marketing and revenue are parts of a business, get used to it?

IF we will need to have some sort of costume for those quest I am sure it will be provided ingame as the did in blacktide den or poghan passage. So I highly doubt they will require you to buy them for such a thing.
Now onto stuff I WISH they had done---finishing the last 3 or 4 sets of gloves to the deldrimor armor so those sets could be added to the HoM----wouldnt pay for it, but it would be nice if they finished those!

I am not really for the costumes, I buy them yes (I like to buy stuff, ima girl). I wish they would work on things like the bmp or sorrows furnace or the other realms of the gods---but thats a lot to ask from the few remaining people working on gw1. Its been 3 years since they announced gw2 in that time they could have easily had another good 'expansion' but it didnt happen.
oh well.

Nope, I can't find any mention of that from anet anywhere.

The costumes may still be required for the new quests. Not that I care either way.
